University of Nebraska Interim President Susan Fritz, Ph.D., has announced a day of administrative leave for Tuesday, Dec. 24, following a pronouncement by President Donald Trump closing federal offices on that date and Gov. Pete Ricketts’ decision to close state offices. This decision is in addition to the federal holiday already scheduled on Wednesday, Dec. 25.
The University of Nebraska Human Resources Handbook for Policies states that, “Regular employees may be granted administrative leave with pay in the event of non-scheduled ‘declared’ holidays authorized by the U.S. president, governor, or president of the university.”
UNMC employees eligible for holiday leave will be granted Tuesday, Dec. 24, as a day of “administrative leave.”
Individuals who had planned to use vacation, compensatory leave, floating holidays or other leave statuses on Dec. 24 will not be required to do so.
UNMC employees — if required to work on Dec. 24 — will be paid for the time worked and also granted an additional day off which may be carried into 2020. Holiday parking guidelines will apply. Contact your supervisor if you have any questions.
Nebraska Medicine will remain open and operational. Clinic and hospital functions also will continue as scheduled.
Yipee!!!
