A new report by Zippia, a website considered to be one of the nation’s leading authorities on career-related data, has determined that Nebraska Medicine and UNMC both rank among the top 20 companies to work for in Omaha.
Zippia’s “Best Companies to Work for Rankings” list Nebraska Medicine No. 13, while UNMC comes in at No. 20.
The rankings were based primarily on three major characteristics:
- Salary/pay;
- Company financial health (revenue/employee, years in business); and
- Diversity (race, gender, politics and education).
“It’s always nice to be included in rankings like this,” said Aileen Warren, UNMC assistant vice chancellor for human resources. “To have both Nebraska Medicine and UNMC on the list is something to be very proud of. We always strive to be one of the best employers in the state, so this is encouraging.”

All the data are scored and standardized to location and job title so that each company is comparable. Each company is assigned into a potential group based on its size.
Sources of data include the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Federal Election Commission, and Zippia’s own proprietary collection of resumes and job data. Zippia hand curates the resulting list to remove any potentially inconsistent data. Here is an explanation of the ranking methodology.
