Healing Arts program to host holiday events

The Healing Arts Program is hosting performances to highlight the sounds of the season – both amateur and professional.

On Thursday, Dec. 12, Opera Omaha will deliver a holiday performance – first at noon in the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center Lobby and then at 1 p.m. in the cancer center’s Chihuly Sanctuary. The Opera Omaha Holland Community Opera fellows will perform the free concert for patients, families, staff, students, and the public. Current fellows are:

  • Gwenna Fairchild-Taylor, soprano;
  • Jared Hiscock, baritone;
  • Kate Pomrenke, soprano; and
  • Kaitlin Zardetto, mezzo-soprano.

On Monday, Dec. 16, at noon, Greg Bociek, M.D., and friends will take center stage in the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center Lobby for a performance of “Caroling with Dr. Bociek & Friends.”

The performance, which has become an annual tradition at the medical center, features Dr. Bociek, a UNMC/Nebraska Medicine oncologist, playing the piano and being joined by colleagues for songs of the season. The med center community is invited to join in on the singing in the lobby of the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center.
