New E-Learning teams receive awards for 2019-20

Each year through a competitive application process, the E-Learning program awards faculty and student teams for the creation of online, interactive modules. The eight teams selected for 2019-20 were recognized at the E-Learning Awards Lunch on Nov. 5. The projects will receive funding provided by the Office of the Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.

“We look forward to seeing the newest team members work together to create e-learning modules that will advance science curricula across UNMC. The creativity and innovation of faculty/student teams make the content come to life, increasing learner engagement,” said Betsy Becker, D.P.T, Ph.D., program director for the division of physical therapy education at the UNMC College of Allied Health Professions and co-chair of the UNMC E-Learning Steering Committee.

Since 2014, over 445 individuals participated in the E-Learning Program and created 235 e-modules, most of which are available on the UNMC E-gallery.

“Cohort participants rely on the E-Learning team for support in developing their interactive multimedia,” said Peggy Moore, director of e-learning at UNMC. “The program offers a unique opportunity for students and faculty to work together alongside our instructional design and technology experts to create engaging e-modules that benefit the UNMC learning community and beyond.”

Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Dele Davies, M.D., thanked the student and faculty participants. “As our newest E-Learning cohort, you become part of a tradition at UNMC that not only creates e-modules to assist students master difficult concepts, but advances pedagogy and instructional design across interprofessional education. Your work will be integrated into curricula across UNMC and prove essential in training the next generation of health care providers.”

Teams will demonstrate the new e-modules at the E-Learning Showcase scheduled for April 2020.
