Melissa O’Dell, M.D., is a new faculty member at UNMC.

Research/professional interests: Dr. O’Dell’s primary clinical interest is serious mental illness, particularly early intervention in psychosis. She is a champion for the development of services across the spectrum of care for people suffering with psychosis and is leading a team to develop a multidisciplinary subspecialty clinic for this patient population.

How I fell in love with psychiatry: I have always loved listening to peoples’ stories, so working in a field that allows me to do that every day in the service of helping people lead more fulfilling lives is an amazing privilege.
