Faculty Senate elects leadership for 2019-20

Allison Cushman-Vokoun, M.D., Ph.D.

Allison Cushman-Vokoun, M.D., Ph.D., has assumed the presidency of the UNMC Faculty Senate for the 2019-20 academic year.

Dr. Cushman-Vokoun is an associate professor of pathology/microbiology in the College of Medicine.

Elections took place in June as outgoing senators were acknowledged and new senators were introduced. The Faculty Senate meets the first working Monday of the month, September through June, at 5 p.m. in the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, Room 0-12103 on the ground level.

In addition to Dr. Cushman-Vokoun, the Faculty Senate officers include:

  • Immediate past president — Corrine Hanson, Ph.D., associate professor of medical nutrition education the College of Allied Health Professions;
  • Newly elected vice president/president-elect — Brandy Clarke, Ph.D., assistant professor of psychology, Munroe-Meyer Institute; and
  • Newly elected secretary/treasurer — Tammy Webster, Ph.D., associate professor and program director of radiography education, College of Allied Health Professions.

The senate serves as the governing body empowered to represent the UNMC faculty. It includes representatives from each major academic unit.
