The Best Masters Programs has ranked the UNMC College of Public Health sixth in its listing of the 25 top online public health programs in the United States for 2019.
The College of Public Health offers multiple online master’s degrees and several certificate options. Six MPH degree concentrations are accessible completely online — in biostatistics, environmental and occupational health, epidemiology, health services administration, health promotion, and maternal and child health. A master’s in science in emergency preparedness also is offered. All programs require 45-credit hours and share some of the same core curriculum.
College of Public Health Dean Ali S. Khan, M.D., M.P.H., said UNMC’s public health program is stellar.
“Our online MPH program allows students across the U.S. and globe to get the same quality, world-class public health education at a great value as our students in the American heartland. Our ranking reflects the investment we have made in our teaching faculty and every student’s tailored online experience.
“Just as on-campus, we have advisors, online library resources and career services available to online students,” he said. “The only difference in their education experience is the flexibility and convenience of gaining their degree.”
Best Masters Programs is an independent online guide to the best traditional and online master’s degree programs, according to its website. The ranking considers Council on Education for Public Health-accredited public health schools that offer online and hybrid MPH degree programs. Programs were ranked according to four factors: cost, reputation, salary potential and student reviews, using data from College Scorecard, Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System, Niche and U.S. News & World Report.
The first five ranked schools are:
1. Oregon Health & Science University and Portland State University
2. University of California, Berkeley
3. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
4. University of Florida
5. Texas A&M Health Science Center
What fabulous news! Our COPH is much younger than some other schools. We all should be so proud! Personally, I love our COPH faculty-great teammates and leaders!
