Eileen Condon, Ph.D., a postdoctoral fellow at the Yale School of Nursing in Orange, Conn., will give the seventh annual Anna Marie Jensen Cramer Memorial Lectureship in Women’s & Children’s Health & Family Nursing on Oct. 2.
Dr. Condon will speak on “Breaking Family Cycles of Adverse Childhood Experiences: A Critical Role for Nurses.”
The event is intended for advanced practice nurses, nurses and other interested health care professionals.
Learning objectives of the lecture will include:
- Describe the physiological and health consequences of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and toxic stress;
- Identify risk and protective factors for childhood ACEs and toxic stress; and
- Discuss intergenerational transmission of ACEs among families at risk.
The event will include a welcome session from 5:30-6 p.m. and the lecture from 6-7:15 p.m. The event will be held at the UNMC Center for Nursing Science, 4101 Dewey Ave., Omaha, in the atrium and Room 3030.
