The Pediatric Cancer Research Group Symposium will be held Aug. 27 at UNMC.
The keynote speaker, Brenda Weigel, M.D., professor and Lehman Family Chair in Pediatrics at the Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota, a recognized leader in the field of child cancer research, will speak on “Pediatric Drug Development: The Changing Landscape.”
The purpose of the symposium is:
- to provide an update for the lay audience on projects that have been funded by the legislature, including:
- What is the problem being investigated?
- How is the research team attempting to solve the problem?
- What resources are required to continue the work?
- to provide an update on the major project Epidemiology of Pediatric Cancer in Nebraska to the lay audience; and
- to share scientific presentations regarding the progress of funded projects to the research community.
Director of the Pediatric Cancer Research Group Don Coulter, M.D., said the goal for the symposium “is always to highlight our public-private partnership that has built a group of passionate investigators who are completing collaborative basic, translational and epidemiological investigations of pediatric cancer.”
