New university engagement system unveiled

New name, new look!

The UNMC Office of Community Engagement has unveiled ENGAGE (formerly UNMC | SYNC), a new interactive system designed to help members of the UNMC community stay connected to events and opportunities within UNMC and with community partners, manage group activities and facilitate interprofessional communications.

Users can access the updated system by signing in with their Net ID, accepting the terms, and completing or updating their profile. They can then use the system to connect with organizations and view upcoming events.

Creating an account and logging in

  • Visit the site.
  • Click on the red ENGAGE button
  • Log in using UNMC Net ID
  • Complete or update profile

“With a campus system that extends across the state, we needed a centralized place for all UNMC community members to stay informed of activities, view involvement opportunities and connect with one another,” said Heidi Keeler, Ph.D., director of the office of community engagement. “ENGAGE fills this need. ENGAGE is a cloud-based system that allows students, staff and faculty to quickly scan events and groups in which to participate. Users can track their activity in the system too! There are many features worth exploring.”

Many features familiar to users of UNMC | SYNC, including file sharing, news posts, events, polls and others, will remain available, some under different headings. For example, UNMC | SYNC’s “News Post” has been replaced by ENGAGE’s “Latest News.”

Data security

The only data that is collected is basic demographic information, which is already secure within the UNMC IT systems. Users can enter additional information voluntarily in the system based on their needs. Participation data can only be retrieved by the user or system administrators. User information is safe.

Members of the Office of Community Engagement are available to answer questions. Training sessions are also scheduled:

  • Tuesday, Aug. 27 at 9 a.m.;
  • Thursday, Aug. 29 at 3 p.m.;
  • Wednesday, Sept. 4 at noon;
  • Friday, Sept. 6 at 11 a.m.;
  • Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 2 p.m.; and
  • Thursday, Sept. 12 at 9 a.m.

Sign up here to attend a training session (sign in required to view trainings).

“ENGAGE is perfect for groups and organizations across campus to centrally store information, communicate with each other, market to the UNMC community and build long term continuity,” Dr. Keeler said. “If you are involved in a group or organization on campus, you should look into using this tool.”

    Dr. Keeler and Anita Lee have done a lot of great work on this new ENGAGE system. I encourage all UNMC student organization leaders and their faculty/staff advisors to sign up if they have not already done so!
