Tell us a bit about what you do here at UNMC.
I am the administrator for the UNMC Division of Rheumatology in the Department of Internal Medicine. Each day is full of new opportunities and challenges — I can say no two days are ever alike. I am fortunate, as I get the opportunity to support and work alongside amazing faculty and colleagues who display their daily dedication to the UNMC mission of transforming lives through education, research, and patient care.
Innovation is one of UNMC’s brand values. Describe how you’ve seen this value embodied at UNMC.
Where do I start? I see innovation taking place every day in our division. Each of us is committed to seeking new ways through research, study and experience. The best place to see all of the innovative activities taking place within our division is to follow us at @UNMC_Rheum on Twitter.
What is your favorite summer activity?
Baseball! If I am not at a ball field with my son and his teammates hitting grounders and pitching batting practice, we are taking in a Storm Chasers game under the lights.
List three things people may not know about you.
- During the Kansas City Royals’ World Series run in 2014, my family was highlighted on the local Fox station as we traveled to KC for game one, including “action” footage in front of the stadium — our two minutes and 32 seconds of fame!
- I played soccer through college as a defensive specialist.
- My first job after college was as a counselor at a group home for boys age 10-21 — McCrosson Boys Ranch in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Happy to have you here and part of team rheum! 😀
