How I fell in love with emergency medicine: I was initially drawn to emergency medicine as a medical student because of the fast-paced environment and variety. I quickly realized that the ER also had “my people.” I connected quickly with the like-minded nurses, techs and physicians. The team of health care providers is on a much more level playing field than other specialties.

Degrees:

  • B.S./M.S., aerospace engineering, University of Colorado at Boulder
  • M.D., UNMC

Memberships:

  • American College of Emergency Physicians
  • Society for Academic Emergency Medicine

Three things people may not know about me:

  • I worked as an aerospace engineer at the NASA Johnson Space Center before medical school.
  • My grandmother won a car on “The Price is Right.”
  • I still enjoy playing video games.
