A memorial service to celebrate the life of public safety officer Steve Olson will take place at the UNMC Ice Rink north of the Sorrell Center at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26. A funeral service also will be held Wednesday in his hometown of Northwood, Iowa.
A third-year officer in the UNMC Public Safety and Security Department and a United States Army veteran, Olson died unexpectedly on June 18.
“Steve was an amazing asset to our community and his loss is felt both in our department and in the community,” said Chief Charlotte Evans. “It is our hope that this service will provide an opportunity for those who knew Steve to share memories of his life.”
RIP Brother. You are missed greatly. Heaven has gained another protector and no doubt will continue that by protecting all of us down here. Until we meet again…
