Switch to a 10-digit internal dialing system delayed

Throughout the year, various Nebraska Medicine and UNMC locations have switched to a new 10-digit internal dialing system, replacing using five digits when calling an internal phone number. The change in phone systems has been due to the continued growth throughout the organizations.

All remaining Nebraska Medicine and UNMC locations, which includes the med center campus, will go live with 10-digit dialing on Friday, Sept. 6. Infrastructure and other system changes are underway in preparation of instituting 10-digit dialing. Until your area has migrated to 10-digit dialing, continue calling colleagues the same way you have.

“The Sept. 6 date is later than previously announced,” said Frank Plummer, systems manager, IT administration. “Due to an unforeseen vendor resource shortfall, the go live date had to change.”

Bellevue Medical Center and the UNMC College of Dentistry in Lincoln use different telephone systems and are not part of that September go-live.
