Stress, anxiety, depression and other mental health disorders can impact us at various times throughout the year. May is Mental Health Month and serves as a good reminder that there are resources available to med center colleagues, such as the free counseling and support services through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

See bigger version of above chart here.

You can call about anything, but here are a few reasons to consider contacting EAP:

  • Stress;
  • Relationships;
  • Personal finance;
  • Cancer or health;
  • Grief;
  • Substance abuse or addictions;
  • Caregiving for parents;
  • Work issues;
  • Eating disorders; and
  • Depression.

Colleagues and their family members may receive five free sessions per issue, per year. A live person is accessible 24 hours a day. Simply call Arbor Family Counseling at 402-330-0960 or visit the website.

In addition to Arbor Family Counseling’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) off-site location and the HIPAA-compliant WebEx option, UNMC and Nebraska Medicine employees now have a dedicated space for on-site appointments. The on-site space is discreet and shares a waiting room with a clinic. All services are confidential. A counselor will be available for limited on-site sessions and can be scheduled by calling the number listed above. Off-site and/or WebEx sessions also can be scheduled.

Services are confidential. No one at UNMC or Nebraska Medicine, including your supervisor or human resources, will know whether you have contacted EAP.
