Congratulations to Dr. Cliff Miles, the 2019 awardee of the departmental Clinical/Educational Mentoring award. This award is intended to recognize mid-level or senior faculty (associate or professor level) excellence in providing mentorship in clinical and/or educational activities to one or more faculty colleagues. It is expected that the awardee will have evidence of especially robust mentoring relationships as demonstrated by the frequency of mentoring meetings and the academic output of their mentees, as well as the qualitative report from the mentee(s). Mentoring can support mentees in the promotion & tenure process, clinical care effectiveness, research and teaching accomplishments, as well as assist in work-life balance.
Dr. Scott Westphal nominated Cliff for this award, stating, "Dr. Miles’s ongoing mentorship has been instrumental to my development as a clinician and faculty member at UNMC, and has been one of the things that has made working at UNMC so enjoyable for me… I am confident that he embodies all of the qualities that make someone a great mentor. "
Dr. Miles will be honored at the upcoming Mentoring Recognition Luncheon this summer.
