Support available for those affected by New Zealand attacks

The UNMC community joins with the rest of our city, state and country in sharing our condolences, sympathy and concern following the attacks in Christchurch, New Zealand last week.

To any students, faculty, staff or alumni with ties to New Zealand, or who are otherwise impacted by the attacks, we stand in solidarity with you and are ready to provide support:

“Our thoughts and prayers go to the families and communities so devastated by this event,” said UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., at Monday’s Chancellor’s Forum. “It’s a vivid reminder of how powerful hate can be and how much stronger love can be.”

For faculty and staff who are experiencing feelings of concern or distress, confidential services for employees and their family members are offered through UNMC’s Employee Assistance Program, which works with Arbor Family Counseling.
