Prepare your abstracts and workshop proposals now for the 2019 Heartland Interprofessional Education Conference and be ready to submit them beginning Jan. 1.

“Anyone who has done research on best practices for interprofessional education, clinical practice, medical homes or policy is welcome to submit a proposal,” said Devin Nickol, M.D., associate dean of interprofessional education at UNMC.

Submissions will be accepted through March 1. Those who submit will receive notification of acceptance by May 1.

The conference titled, “Come Together to Work Together,” will be held Aug. 1-2 at UNMC, and is a collaborative effort between Creighton University and UNMC.

Creighton University Vice Provost for Learning and Assessment, Gail Jensen, Ph.D., a nationally recognized leader in interprofessional education noted, “We are building bridges across institutions both locally and regionally to support the movement towards interprofessional education and collaborative practice.”

Conference organizers are looking for oral presentations describing important interprofessional research, curriculum, assessment, policy or practice developments; workshop topics; and poster presentations.

“Our team is excited to support the scholarship of any students, clinicians, faculty and staff involved in interprofessional education and collaborative practice,” said Joy Doll, who has a doctorate in occupational therapy and is executive director for the Center for Interprofessional Practice, Education and Research (CIPER) at Creighton.

Featured speakers at the conference include Barbara Brandt, Ph.D., director of the National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education at the University of Minnesota; Amy Blue, Ph.D., associate vice president, interprofessional education at the University of Florida; and Alan Dow, M.D., assistant vice president, health sciences for interprofessional education and collaborative care at Virginia Commonwealth University.

The conference is a regional, approved conference by the American Interprofessional Health Collaborative (AIHC).
