How I fell in love with radiology:
From the first time I rotated on radiology, I’ve found it extremely interesting and satisfying. Many patients admitted to the hospital or seen in clinic often undergo some form of imaging, and the radiologist can play an integral role in determining the patient’s diagnosis. It’s stimulating to analyze a complex study and then rewarding to reach a diagnosis that potentially may make a profound difference in a patient’s life. I also appreciate the interaction with a diverse group of medical and surgical specialties.

Degrees:

  • B.A., biology, Amherst College, Amherst, Mass.
  • M.D., University of Colorado School of Medicine, Denver
  • Transitional internship, University of Texas, Austin
  • Residency, diagnostic radiology, University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor

  • Fellowship, nuclear medicine, Duke University Hospital, Durham, N.C.

  • American Roentgen Ray Society
  • American College of Radiology
  • Society of Abdominal Imaging
  • Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging

Three things people may not know about me:

  • I am an active runner, now mostly short distances. But in the past, I have run three marathons (New York City, Las Vegas, Big Sur) and several half marathons.
  • I have a lovely wife who also is an attending at UNMC in the cardiac division of anesthesia (Rebecca Aron). We have a beautiful two-and-a-half-year-old daughter (Ella) who keeps us busy at home. We also have two small Shih Tzus who believe they are humans and follow us everywhere we go. They have spent their entire lives in Southern California, so we’re not sure how they will adapt to the Midwest winters.
  • I really enjoying cooking and prepare the majority of the meals for our family. I like the challenge that comes with trying new recipes and using new ingredients, and better yet, eating them.
