Sen. Bolz tours UNMC in Lincoln

State Sen. Kate Bolz, left, speaks with Rita Schmitz, assistant professor, during her tour of the Lincoln Division of the College of Nursing.

State Sen. Kate Bolz, who represents District 29, visited the UNMC College of Nursing Lincoln Division in September.

Sen Bolz, whose district includes part of Lincoln, met with university leaders including Juliann Sebastian, Ph.D., dean of the UNMC College of Nursing, and toured the college’s simulation labs. She also met with Janet Guthmiller, dean of the UNMC College of Dentistry, and toured the college.

“The cutting-edge technology used in the nursing college simulation labs is inspiring,” she said. “Instructors can simulate everything from a cough to a heart attack and students can learn to respond with help from their peers. I know that this investment will help students improve their skills and patients will ultimately receive better care.”
