As the new school year begins, come celebrate UNMC’s diversity and get to know your fellow classmates and coworkers at the #WeAreUNMC BBQ today.

Organizers will be using UNMC | SYNC to check in students and staff at the barbecue. Attendees are encouraged to create a UNMC | SYNC here before attending the event.
Faculty, staff and students are all welcome to attend the all-campus BBQ from 4-7 p.m. at the Ruth and Bill Scott Student Plaza.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming students back, as well as showing appreciation for our faculty and staff, ” said Channing Bunch, director of student recruitment and engagement. “Good food, fun activities and a chance to get together as a new semester begins makes the barbecue a fun way to begin a new academic year.”
UNMC IDs will be required to attend the event.
There also will be several activities centered around campus inclusivity and diversity.
Music will be provided by Signature DJ, and the food stations will be provided by Sodexo. There will be backyard games, a Zumba class provided by the Center for Healthy Living, a zero waste promotion by LiveGreen, and a chance to try out “drunk goggles” and fire extinguisher training equipment courtesy of the College of Public Health.
All are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.
This event is hosted by the UNMC Student Senate, the Recruitment and Student Engagement Office, and the UNMC Department of Human Resources, sponsored in part by Metro Credit Union, in collaboration with the UNMC Department of Public Relations, the Environmental Health and Safety Department, the Center for Healthy Living and the UNMC Bookstore.
The rain location will be in the Truhlsen Events Center in the Sorrell Center.
