The Office of Community Engagement under Academic Affairs is working hard to make connections across communities. To facilitate this, a demonstration of UNMC | SYNC, UNMC’s new online community designed to help students and student organizations stay connected to events and opportunities around campus and in the community, will be held from noon-12:50 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, in the Sorrell Center, Room 2018.
UNMC | SYNC is designed to help students track their co-curricular participation. The platform also has the capability of producing a co-curricular transcript, which can be used to highlight all areas of learning experienced while at UNMC.
“There is a need for centralized communication related to engagement and various opportunities across UNMC and within our community,” said Heidi Keeler, Ph.D., interim director of the UNMC Office of Community Engagement. “UNMC | SYNC’s ability to easily transmit and store information across professions and partners can fill this need, and open up many doors of collaboration as well.”
The online platform will enable students to:
- showcase achievements by generating a co-curricular transcript and e-portfolio;
- connect with service opportunities;
- advertise student group events;
- store and share files;
- create polls;
- track event attendance (with card swipe feature); and
- manage events and calendars.
UNMC | SYNC is accessible via the OrgSync app, available via Apple and Google Play. The app allows users to access information at their fingertips.
Faculty and staff are also able to use the platform for tracking and connection specific to their needs. All are welcome to attend.
