What made you chose to become the program director:

I enjoy teaching and wanted to be a part of a larger mission than clinical practice alone. 

What challenges do you foresee in graduate medical education in the future:  

Funding; and

Maintaining robust clinical experiences and a supportive educational environment in the demanding and ever-changing world of health care.

What are the strengths of your training program: 

The people – we have a wonderful team of dedicated, hard-working and caring residents, faculty, and support staff…and extremely supportive leadership.  

We have a wide variety of training sites and faculty scattered across the state to meet the individual needs of our residents. 

List some accomplishments that you are proud of: 

Playing a part in the tremendous growth of residents throughout their training. 

Graduating caring, competent family physicians who make a difference in the lives of others everywhere from rural Nebraska to across the world in service with the U.S. Air Force.

Tell us three things about you that others may not know:

I practiced in Broken Bow, Neb., for five years prior to coming back to UNMC.

I love the outdoors – especially traveling to Minnesota and Alaska.

I caught a 60-lb. king salmon.
