Last week, the members of UNMC and Nebraska Medicine’s Emerging Professionals Program (EPP) took part in “Developing U,” a professional development class aimed at closing skill gaps utilizing a targeted individual development plan.
The course, led by UNMC’s Diane Kortus, development specialist, was part of the Re-Imagining U program, which offers several training classes to employees interested in furthering their development skills. Classes range in topics from change management to trust and communication and strategic planning.
“Diane has a passion for development and helping others realize their potential,” said Emily Hopkins, president of EPP. “The members of EPP are ambitious individuals who are dedicated to making an impact at UNMC and Nebraska Medicine. These courses give our group the opportunity to identify personal areas of improvement and expand our skill sets.”
Those who took the post-event survey said they were extremely satisfied with the experience and are very likely to attend a similar session in the future. From the comments received, many people enjoyed the hands-on nature of the course and appreciated Kortus’ enthusiasm toward professional development.
The next event hosted by UNMC HR and EPP is on May 23 from 9:30-11 a.m. Leah Gorges, multigenerational speaker, will discuss the five generations interacting in the modern workplace and how shared history and communication preferences influence office and client interactions.
