Beth Conover

FDA committee taps MMI’s Conover to speak
The Munroe-Meyer Institute’s Beth Conover will be giving an invited presentation in March at the Food & Drug Administration’s Risk Communication Advisory Committee meeting on Risk Communication in Pregnancy Labeling. Conover, a genetic counselor in the MMI Department of Genetic Medicine, will speak on risk communication from the Teratogen Information Service perspective. Organizers cited Conover’s expertise in this area, adding that her presentation will be a valuable addition to this meeting.

Shorts

  • Wayne Fisher, Ph.D., and Cathleen Piazza, Ph.D., were featured speakers at the Florida Association for Behavior Analysis Conference and, for the first time it its 37-year history, the conference sold-out.
  • Bethany Hansen, Ph.D., joined the faculty of the Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders and the Pediatric Feeding Program. Dr. Hansen has expertise with children with autism spectrum disorders and with feeding disorders. She previously was on the faculty at the Marcus Autism Center in Atlanta.
  • Jessie Richard will be joining the pediatric feeding program for the second half of her predoctoral internship.
  • Vivian Ibanez, Caitlin Kirkwood, Jason Zeleny, Kathryn Peterson and Cathleen Piazza, Ph.D., submitted “A Pilot Study on Increasing Intake and Sucking for Infants Receiving Supplemental Feedings” to the Behavioral Developmental Bulletin, and the manuscript was accepted for publication.
