Valor in Education Service Award
This award recognizes volunteer, emeritus, or adjunct faculty whose daily service to our learners exemplifies the spirit of outstanding teaching or clinical supervision.
You are the recipient of the Valor in Education Service Award. Why is “service to our learners” important in health care education?
Professional students must master an extraordinary amount of information in order to be competent and safe. It is a privilege to serve them as they approach this difficult hurdle.
Describe your proudest moment as an educator.
Virtually every day when a student says “I see” or “I get it” or “I see how that works,” I get a feeling of pride, and they happen often.
What advice would you give to other faculty members who want to have an impact in education?
Always think of ways to add humor to your explanations.
Do you have a favorite quote or philosophy on teaching?
Make everything you can, fit with the category of solving a problem, because problem solving is one of the best ways to learn.
Congratulations, Dr. Binhammer! You have had so much impact on countless students through the years, and we thank you for your dedication to our education. Also, it may seem insignificant, but I have missed attending your Christmas caroling sessions for the past 2 years; that was always a very fun, light break from studying that I enjoyed!
Congratulations Dr. B!!! You deserve it!!
Congratulations, Bob. You continue to serve students in very important ways. You are very deserving of this recognition.
