Legislative candidate Machaela Cavanaugh, running for the state senate seat in District 6, west central Omaha, recently toured UNMC.
She visited the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, the regenerative medicine program and the iEXCEL Visualization Hub.
Cavanaugh was impressed with UNMC, and said learning more about the med center is an important part of running for state office.
“This is a public university and a pretty big part of Omaha and Nebraska,” she said. “We have to make sure we are making very good use of our resources and that includes making sure UNMC is on the cutting edge.
“We’re also a vast state, and we have to ensure that anything we do here can be used across our state and beyond.”
She continued: “My goal is to be well informed about everything going on here at UNMC and how it impacts our state.”
