John Lowe, Nebraska state senator from Kearney’s District 37, toured UNMC in November.
“I think it’s important to know what’s going on with the medical community in the state and how it all interacts,” Sen. Lowe said.
The senator toured the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit and the iEXCEL Visualization Hub after a meeting with UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., and Vice Chancellor for External Relations Bob Bartee.
Lowe, who has visited the campus in the past, said he was impressed with the iWall and the 3-D simulation technology in the visualization hub.
“It’s quite amazing and a good teaching tool,” he said.
Lowe said that his priorities include keeping state costs down for the taxpayers.
“If it’s better to use this new technology to keep costs down, that’s all the better,” he said.
