Research interests – outcomes research for structural heart disease interventions, patient and operator radiation exposure in the cardiac catheterization laboratory, clinical trials
Professional interests – transcatheter aortic valve replacement, percutaneous mitral valve repair, left atrial appendage occlusion, PFO/ASD closure, balloon mitral valvuloplasty, alcohol septal ablation, ileofemoral and tibial artery angioplasty, subclavian artery angioplasty, renal artery stenting, carotid artery stenting, coronary artery intervention.

How I fell in love with interventional cardiology:
Acute, life-and-death situations are inspiring and humbling, but rapid, skillful intervention can save a patient’s life in a matter of minutes. I chose interventional cardiology to have the frequent privilege to deliver high-acuity, life-saving care.

Three things people may not know about me:


  • I enjoy canoeing, sailing and running.
  • I played intercollegiate Ultimate Frisbee as an undergraduate and coached a New York City high school team for four years during medical school.
  • I spent two months during my final year of residency teaching at the University of Rwanda College of Medicine on a grant from Johnson & Johnson.
