EDITOR’S NOTE: The redesign of the College of Medicine curriculum is moving full speed ahead with implementation slated for the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year. To help people become more familiar with the process and gain a better understanding of what the college hopes to accomplish, here is the latest in a series of InterCOM articles on curriculum redesign.
The series continues this month with a rundown of the key people leading the various curriculum block design teams.
The Block Design Teams are the "lifeblood" of curriculum redesign, said Kelly Caverzagie, M.D., associate dean for educational strategy for the College of Medicine and the leader of the COM curriculum redesign effort.
"I can’t thank these people enough for all their hard work," he said. "Without them, curriculum redesign would not happen. They have made an incredible commitment. They are very busy people, who are giving their time and talents to change the education of medical students for generations to come."
The Block Design Teams are grouped into 11 systems and five synthesis teams. Approximately 100 UNMC faculty members are participating in the teams.
