Nebraska Medicine again makes top hospitals list

Becker’s Hospital Review has published the 2017 edition of 100 Great Hospitals in America, a compilation of some of the most prominent, forward-thinking and focused health care facilities in the nation. For the fourth straight year, Becker’s named Nebraska Medicine to the prestigious list.

“It’s an absolute honor to once again be included on this list,” said Dan DeBehnke, M.D., M.B.A., Nebraska Medicine CEO. “The expertise, cutting-edge research and extraordinary care we provide to patients allows us to do things no one else in this region can.”

Hospitals included on the list are home to many medical and scientific breakthroughs, provide best-in-class patient care and have received recognition across various publications and accrediting organizations. The Becker’s Hospital Review editorial team selected hospitals based on analysis of several ranking and award agencies, including U.S. News & World Report’s 2016-17 Honor Roll and specialty rankings, CMS star ratings, Leapfrog grades, Truven Health Analytics top hospitals, Most Wired hospitals and Magnet accreditation. The final result is a group of 100 hospitals that are leaders in their region, their state and the nation in terms of high-quality patient care.

“Our commitment to excellence and healing is transformational,” Dr. DeBehnke said. “We are very excited for the future of Nebraska Medicine. This June, we’re opening a world-class cancer center and we have new primary care clinics on the horizon. We have a lot to be proud of and a lot to look forward to.”

Nebraska Medicine is nationally recognized in cardiology, neurology and oncology. It has an international reputation for providing bone marrow and stem cell transplantation services. It’s home to one of the most reputable and well-known solid organ transplant programs in the country, performing thousands of heart, liver, kidney, pancreas, intestinal and lung transplants. Nebraska Medicine also is a comprehensive Level 1 trauma center, providing 24/7 care to adult and pediatric patients.
