Lookin’ at U: Stacey Coleman

Stacey Coleman

Each Thursday, we randomly feature a medical center employee.

This week, we learn more about Stacey Coleman, office associate, public health practice, College of Public Health.

  • Name: Stacey Coleman
  • Hometown: St. Louis, Mo.
  • No. of years at UNMC: Four years, but I have been in the University of Nebraska system since 2006. I worked at UNO first.

Tell us a bit about what you do here at UNMC.

My title is office associate II, but I like to say that I help keep the College of Public Health running. Additionally, I am the chair of the Diversity Council here within the college.

Accountability is one of UNMC’s brand values. Tell us of a time you witnessed a person take ownership and be resilient, transparent and honest.
For me, accountability is doing the right thing even when no one is looking. I have seen folks here step up to the plate and do the right things by our faculty, staff, students and community partners, even if no one is looking to give them credit.

What is your favorite winter activity?

I always say that if I was a forest creature, I would want to be a bear — because they get to hibernate all through the winter. Sorry all, but I like spring the best!

List three things people may not know about you.

  • I have always wanted to skydive.
  • I was first published before I graduated high school. Oh wait, did I mention that I am a writer?
  • I sincerely love to travel, and I am a strong Snoopy fan!
