Lauritzen Outpatient Center opens first level

On Monday, Nebraska Medicine opened level one of the new Lauritzen Outpatient Center, located at 4014 Leavenworth St. By shifting outpatient services from the Durham Outpatient Center as well as adding complimentary support services for one-stop, patient-centered care, hospital officials said Nebraska Medicine is creating a better experience for patients.

Dedicated surface and garage parking for patients and their families will provide a new convenience not historically found on the main campus.

Services on level one include:

  • Orthopaedics clinic;
  • Physical and occupational therapy;
  • Outpatient pharmacy;
  • Radiology; and
  • Laboratory services.

What creates a simplified, better patient experience?
For example, an orthopaedics patient will be able to easily navigate their clinical, PT/OT and radiology appointments — all within level one — and also fill any needed prescriptions at the outpatient pharmacy. If their surgical procedure is outpatient and they happen to need any lab work, again all within one location with easy access and parking.

A new coffee shop also is located on level one offering a wide selection of coffee, tea, latte, espresso, Frappuccino® Blended Beverages, bottled beverages, breakfast, lunch and snack items. Hours are Monday-Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Lauritzen Outpatient Center, including the Fritch Surgery Center, is opening services over the course of nearly three weeks in the month of November and will be fully operational by Nov. 30. The schedule is as follows:

  • Level one: Orthopaedics clinic, PT/OT, Outpatient Pharmacy, Radiology, Laboratory Services and Coffee shop — now open
  • Level three: Clinics including Ear, Nose & Throat and Audiology, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral Facial Prosthetics and Surgery-Urology — opens Nov. 22
  • Level Two (Fritch Surgery Center): Pre/post op and outpatient surgery — opens Nov. 30. Note: University Tower ORs will be permanently closed starting Nov. 23.
  • Level Four: Orthopaedics faculty and research, as well as telemedicine, are opening throughout November
