UNMC Appreciation Week begins Monday

All UNMC faculty and staff are invited to participate in the UNMC Appreciation Week celebration, which runs all next week.

Appreciation Week celebrates the work employees do to make UNMC a vital resource to so many.

The following is a list of Appreciation Week events on the Omaha campus:

Throughout the Week:

  • Be the first to spot one of 12 hidden ITEACH icons in campus buildings and win a prize.
  • Pick up a free UNMC car window decal* at any of the Appreciation Week events and display it on your car. Every day, a few lucky winners will find a “ticket” on their car and win a prize.
  • Enjoy a month of free admission to the Center for Healthy Living as part of the Grand Opening of the new space (Oct. 10 – Nov. 10; existing memberships will be frozen during this time).

Monday: Center for Healthy Living Grand Opening Celebration, 3 p.m. – 5 p.m.

  • Dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony at 3 p.m. on the lawn north of the Student Life Center.
  • Self-guided tours following the ceremony inside the Center for Healthy Living.
  • Healthy snacks, free chair massages, workout demos, music from DJ Laci and fitness-themed prizes
  • Free UNMC workout towel*.

Tuesday: Community Partners Lunch, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

  • Stop by the Sorrell Center Alumni Commons for free food samples* from local restaurants including Blackstone Meatball, Crescent Moon, CRAVE and more!
  • Chat with community partners and organizations from Midtown Crossing and the Blackstone District.
  • The campus bookstore will be on-site to sell apparel.

Wednesday: Movie on the Lawn, 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.

  • Bring your family and lawn chairs for an outdoor viewing of “Inside Out” on the north lawn of the Bill and Ruth Scott Student Plaza (rain location: Truhlsen Event Center). Movie will start at sundown (approx. 6:30 p.m.).
  • Free popcorn during the movie*.
  • Fun activities before the movie starts including face painting, lawn games, and a fire truck on display.
  • Chicago Dawg House on-site to sell dinner from 5 p.m.- 7 p.m. (cash or credit).

Thursday: Wake up with UNMC, 8 a.m. – 10 a.m.

  • Stop by the Sorrell Center Alumni Commons or Durham Research Center Commons for free muffins, bagels, orange juice and coffee*.
  • Free UNMC swag*.

Friday: Pie Day, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

  • Stop by the Sorrell Center Alumni Commons or DRC Commons for a free slice of pie and apple cider*.
  • Free UNMC mug*.
  • Social media photo booth on-site at the Sorrell Center.
  • UNMC Bookstore on-site at the Durham Research Center.
