Primary Care Network to expand to Grand Island

Beginning this summer, Nebraska Medicine will extend its primary care services to Grand Island, Neb., and the surrounding communities.

Physician partners at Internal Medical Associates of Grand Island recently approached Nebraska Medicine leadership to assume operations of the clinic, which will take effect July 1.

The Tri-Cities area, consisting of Kearney, Hastings and Grand Island, is the largest concentration of population in the state outside of Omaha and Lincoln. More than 10,500 patients are served annually at the primary care clinic, which includes six internal medicine physicians, one rheumatologist and four advanced practice providers. The clinic hosts a UNMC resident.

“It’s after careful consideration that we determined it is in the best interest of our patients to join the Nebraska Medicine system,” said Jennifer Brown, M.D. “With a complex and constantly-changing landscape in the health care industry, the partnership will allow us to focus our time and energies on where our true passion lies: caring for the whole patient — for life.”

“The Grand Island community will continue to experience the same quality care they’ve come to expect through IMA,” said Rosanna Morris, interim CEO. “Patients are best served in their community and IMA physicians will continue to work with local facilities to provide quality care in the appropriate setting.”

“Many IMA providers trained at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, a partner of Nebraska Medicine’s clinical operations,” said Isaac Berg, MD. “As such, we respect its reputation, both regionally and nationally, and feel confident and comfortable with its abilities to operate IMA. We look forward to extending Nebraska Medicine’s brand promise of ‘Serious Medicine. Extraordinary Care’ to Grand Island.”

Because of the partnership, current IMA patients will have online access to their medical records through One Chart.

Current staff members are currently being enrolled as Nebraska Medicine employees.
