EMPOWER seeking help for Service Saturday

EMPOWER, a service learning legacy project of the UNMC College of Public Health, is inviting all UNMC students, faculty, and staff to participate in Service Saturday on April 2 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

EMPOWER will be volunteering with Rejuvenating Women, a local nonprofit highly committed to reducing sex trafficking through their education programs and safe house.

The service work will entail sorting donation items for their safe house. The tentative plan is:

  • 9 a.m.: Meet at the College of Public Health (COPH), Room 3013, for a brief introduction and carpooling opportunities.
  • 9:15 a.m.: Depart UNMC for Rejuvenating Women’s office (near 108th and Dodge).
  • 9:35 a.m.: Arrive at Rejuvenating Women for a brief introduction to the service project.
  • 10 a.m.: Depart Rejuvenating Women for storage units.
  • 10:30 a.m. to noon: Sort donations.
  • 12:30-1 p.m.: Debrief and free lunch provided by EMPOWER in COPH 3013.
