UNMC anesthesiologist named to National Technical Panel

A UNMC cardiac anesthesiologist, Ellen Roberts, M.D., has been selected by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to serve on the National Technical Panel. The panel is monitoring and refining PQRS Measure 44, which focuses on patients undergoing coronary artery bypass surgery. Dr. Roberts, who is vice chair of clinical operations in the department of anesthesiology, was chosen from a group of candidates from around the country, including cardiothoracic surgeons, cardiologists, internists, and anesthesiologists.  Steve Lisco, M.D., professor and chair of anesthesiology, said, "It is certainly a feather in Dr. Roberts’ cap, the department’s and UNMC, as it reflects acknowledgement of the vast experience we have with complex patients at UNMC and Nebraska Medicine."
