Lookin’ at U – Kyra Crepin

Kyra Crepin

Each Thursday, we randomly feature a medical center employee.
This week, we learn more about:

  • Name: Kyra Crepin
  • Hometown: Apple Valley, Minn.
  • No. of years at UNMC: Nine months.

Tell us about what you do here at UNMC.

I’m an office associate in the hematology/oncology department, which means I support a few of the faculty members and also create the rotation schedule for the internal medicine residents rotating through hem/onc.

Working together is one of UNMC’s brand values. Tell us of a time you witnessed an example of this brand value at UNMC.

This is my favorite brand value. Here on our floor we have employees from both Nebraska Medicine and UNMC, and we all work together to provide the best experience for our patients. Whether it be research or transplants or teaching, we all work together to ensure our faculty can focus on the patient and the research to help them beat cancer.

What is your favorite fall activity?

While I do love the fall, I am already looking forward to winter! I am a big alpine skier and I have a few trips planned out west already to hit the slopes. Bring on the snow!

List three things people may not know about you.

    • I moved to Omaha about nine months ago from Apple Valley, Minn. However, I am not a “new” Nebraskan. I got my bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
    • I have a little dog named Oliver (he’s a tri-color Corgi), and you can find us most days hanging down at the dog park.
    • While I work here at UNMC, I am also a student pursuing my master’s degree in emergency preparedness. I hope to work internationally someday with humanitarian and disaster response, especially with refugees.

I have a Corgi who looks almost exactly like Oliver. Maybe we will see you at the dog park (Hanscom Park).
