Clayton Damme, a third-year medical student, is the grand prize winner of the 2015 International Photography Contest.

Sixteen photographs were submitted for consideration in the international photography contest. Five rose to the top as the most aesthetically appealing.

The winners are:

Best in show:
Clayton Damme, “Leon, Nicaragua”

Runners up:

Peter Larson: “Cartagena, Columbia”
Daniel Schafer, M.D.: “Tamshiyacu, Peru”
Paul Hansen, D.D.S.: “Italy”
Ward Chambers, M.D.: “Vladimir, Russia”

Damme’s winning photograph was praised by the judges as a clear and striking image.

Judges this year included Fran Higgins, a communications specialist with the College of Allied Health Professions; and Don Labrie, an IT workstation support specialist.

Higgins and Labrie said they chose the five awardees for their composition, clarity, color and story.

Lisa Spellman, public relations and coordinator of the contest, congratulated the winners and thanked all who submitted photographs. All five photos will be on display throughout the week in the Linder Lounge of the McGoogan Library of Medicine on the sixth floor of Wittson Hall. Check out UNMC’s Facebook page to see all of the photos submitted.
