Community Impact Luncheon set for Nov. 6

The North Omaha Community Care Council (NOCCC) will host its third annual Community Impact Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 6 at the Goodwill Industries, 4805 N. 72nd St.

The luncheon will honor not-for-profit social service agencies, outstanding youth activism and commercial collaboration in service to the north Omaha community.

Kenny McMorris, CEO of Charles Drew Health Center, Inc., is the keynote speaker. He will discuss “Choices, Challenges and Changes.”

The luncheon will honor awardees in three categories: Spirit of Business Award; Spirit of Advocacy Award; and Spirit of Youth Award. The luncheon also serves to celebrate and raise awareness of the quiet, effective service of the NOCCC to the north Omaha community.

This year’s honorees include:

  • Spirit of Business: Frontier Bag Company – Judy Pearl Lee
  • Spirit of Advocacy: Sharif and Gabrielle Liwaru
  • Spirit of Youth: Asia Nared

Individual tickets are $30 per person. Optional corporate packages also are available.

Ticket prices include lunch, door prize drawings and take-home information from many of the NOCCC associate organizations. Registration and payment are due by Oct. 30.

The NOCCC is a 17-year coalition of not-for-profit health and social service representatives, community activists and retail business representatives servicing the diverse needs of greater north Omaha. Originally created as community outreach liaison between north Omaha and UNMC, today the NOCCC is an independent, not-for-profit 501(C)3 corporation.
