Cincinnati pediatric surgeon named CEO for Children's Hospital & Medical Center

Richarad Azizkhan, M.D., surgeon in chief and senior vice president of surgical services at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, has been named CEO for Children's Hospital & Medical Center. The appointment is effective Oct. 19. In 2007, UNMC and Nebraska Medicine implemented an affiliation agreement with Children's Hospital & Medical Center that greatly enhanced the quality of pediatric care in Nebraska. Dr. Azizkhan succeeds Gary Perkins, who is stepping down after 30 years as CEO.

 

Dr. Hussain named medical director of quality and analytics

Tanvir Hussain, M.D., will serve as Nebraska Medicine's medical director of quality and analytics, with his primary focus on ambulatory quality. He will aid in the creation of an ambulatory balanced scorecard, quality assurance curriculum and population healthy management initiatives. His work in the ambulatory environment will complement Julie Fedderson, M.D., who oversees quality initiatives in inpatient areas. In addition to his role as medical director, Dr. Hussain also will be a member of the UNMC General Internal Medicine faculty and will see patients in hospitals and ambulatory clinics. Dr. Hussain, an internal medicine specialist, comes to Nebraska Medicine from Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he completed a master's degree in health science and fellowships in patient safety & quality improvement and analytics leadership. He currently serves on the National Programming Committee for the Society of General Internal Medicine and the American College of Medical Quality, where he was recently chosen as a National Quality Scholar.
