July 1 – School of Allied Health Professions becomes the College of Allied Health Professions.

 

July 11 – Owl Ride, Omaha's nighttime urban cycling adventure, starts at 10 p.m. at Lewis and Clark Landing on Omaha's riverfront and follows a 17-mile course through downtown, Midtown, Dundee, Aksarben, Field Club and the Old Market, with "Owl perch" stops and support along the way. A shorter 7-mile course also is available. The ride benefits Meyer Foundation for Disabilities, which supports social and recreational programs for people with developmental disabilities in the Omaha metro area. Register here.

 

July 17 – Noon, Fitness Friday – walk/run on the Field Club Trail. A stretch, hosted by Peter Pellerito, will follow the event at 12:30 p.m. on the Ruth & Bill Scott Student Plaza area.

 

August 2-4 – INBRE Conference in Lincoln.

 

August 5 –UNeMed Corp. Annual Shareholders Meeting (by invitation only), 5:30 p.m., T.D. Ameritrade Park.

 

August 7 – Board of Regents meeting, Varner Hall, Lincoln.

 

August 11 – Topping off ceremony/beam signing for Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, 3:30 – 5 p.m. Ceremony will take place in front of the Durham Research Center.

 

August 18 – Premier Education Banquet (by invitation only), noon – 2 p.m., Truhlsen Events Center, Sorrell Center.

 

August 20 – Grand opening ceremony for the Health Science Education Complex on the University of Nebraska at Kearney campus.

 

August 21 – Noon, Fitness Friday – Yoga with Todd Gulizia on the Ruth and Bill Scott Student Plaza

 

August 23 New Student BBQ, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Ruth and Bill Scott Student Plaza.

 

August 25 – New faculty orientation.

 

Sept. 29 – Special dinner to celebrate School of Allied Health Professions becoming a college (by invitation only).
