Tickets on sale for MMI Guild’s Garden Walk

Tickets are now on sale for the Munroe-Meyer Institute Guild’s 47th annual Garden Walk, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 14.

The Garden Walk will feature unique and creative ideas in landscaping, planting and patio treatments. In past years, the event has drawn more than 1,500 garden enthusiasts from the Omaha metro area.

Proceeds from the fundraiser, which will be held rain or shine, will benefit children and adults with disabilities through various programs and research efforts at UNMC’s Munroe-Meyer Institute. Services available at MMI include genetic counseling, speech therapy, physical and occupational therapy, developmental pediatrics, behavioral therapy and recreational therapy.

This year’s event will feature five private gardens.

Advance tickets are $15 and are available at:

  • Canoyer Garden Center
  • Indian Creek Nursery
  • Moore’s Nursery
  • Mulhall’s Nursery
  • The Potting Shed
  • Sunrise Lawn and Garden
  • Westlake Hardware, 144th and Center

Tickets will be $20 on the day of the event, with children younger than 5 admitted free.

About the gardens

This year’s event will feature five private gardens, located at the homes of:

  • Justin and Jan Stolen, 2607 N. 123rd Circle, in the Park West neighborhood: This garden was 38 years in the making and is still evolving. Visitors can enjoy the plants and flowers, as well as a lean-to greenhouse, wild bird feeders and a pond.
  • John and Lori Kohl, 16104 Sprague St., in the Walnut Ridge neighborhood: More than 80 varieties of flowers and plants, including hostas, day lilies, irises, hydrangeas, tulips, crocuses and hyacinth, mark this inviting little escape.
  • Glenn and Tracy Seymour, 168 S. 167th St., in the Cambridge Estates neighborhood: From the small water feature and rain garden to a stone patio, fire pit and waterfall, this garden features a variety of fruits and vegetables as well as perennials, terraced planting areas and raised-bed garden boxes.
  • Jack and Polly Struyk, 17075 Pasadena Ct., in The Reserve neighborhood: A bricked walk leads visitors past features such as a bubbling rock water feature, fire pit, waterfall and fountain. The screened porch or gazebo provides a scenic view of Zorinsky Lake to complement the bright annuals, perennials and a rose garden.
  • Howard and Kathy Jeffers, 5706 S 173rd Ave., in the Mission Park neighborhood: Shrubs, trees and vines give an air of privacy to this garden, featuring butterfly bushes, roses, cone flowers and other plants and flowers, as well as a pond, patio and new arbor.
