Research/Professional Interests:
I enjoy caring for patients with a variety of different rheumatologic disorders, but have a particular interest in the inflammatory myopathies, rheumatoid arthritis and gout.

How I fell in love with rheumatology:
From a young age, my parents exposed me to the sciences, and over the years it became an area that I became increasingly interested in. As I entered college, I knew that I would pursue an area of study in the sciences. A career in medicine allows me to apply my interest in science with patient care and development. I was drawn to rheumatology, as it is a field which encompasses a variety of complex, multisystemic disorders which can be challenging, but very rewarding to treat.

Degrees:

  • Bachelor of science, University of Nebraska-Lincoln
  • Doctorate of Medicine, UNMC

Memberships:

  • American College of Rheumatology (ACR)
  • International Myositis Assessment and Clinical Studies group (IMACS)

Three things people may not know about me:

  • I am an avid outdoorsman and enjoy hunting and fishing, and particularly enjoy spending time outdoors with my wife and children.
  • I have two children (ages 8 and 11) who keep me busy in my free time.
  • We enjoy attending local sporting events, and working on projects around the house.
