Dr. De Alba named to regional postition with Global Network of Qualified Mexicans Abroad
Armando De Alba, M.D., instructor, UNMC College of Public Health, has been named vice president for the Nebraska/Iowa chapter of the Global Network of Qualified Mexicans Abroad. The Mexican Consulate started the chapter to connect skilled Mexicans, who will serve as a link between the United States and Mexico for various educational, governmental and cultural projects. The non-profit global professional group was started in 2005 in California. Today, there are 34 chapters around the world.
UNMC nurses named finalists for Omaha Magazine’s Excellence in Nursing Awards
Ira Combs, of the College of Public Health’s Center for Reducing Health Disparities, and Elizabeth Lynn Beam and Joyce Black of the College of Nursing, are all finalists for Omaha Magazine’s Excellence in Nursing Awards. This year, nurses were nominated through open voting by the public. The finalists will be featured in the May/June issue of Omaha Magazine and will be honored at the Omaha Press Club on April 23.
