  • Name: Natalie Crump, M.B.B.S.

  • New title and department at UNMC: Assistant professor, internal medicine

How I fell in love with internal medicine:
My favorite medical school professor and mentor was a gastroenterologist who stimulated my passion for internal medicine. I like problem-solving and enjoy the challenge of managing a wide variety of medically complex patients. Internal medicine gives me a chance to learn something from every subspecialty and allows me to be in a unique position of piecing together all the parts of my patient’s clinical puzzle.

Degrees:

  • M.B.B.S., University of the West Indies, Jamaica

Memberships:

  • American College of Physicians

Three things people may not know about me:

  • I was a competitive middle and long-distance freestyle swimmer who represented Barbados at local, regional and international meets.
  • I wanted to become either a detective, journalist or vet before I decided to apply for medical school.
  • My favorite television shows are “Forensic Files” and “Law & Order SVU.”
