Nominations sought for annual faculty awards

Nominations to recognize UNMC faculty for meritorious teaching, service or mentoring are being accepted until March 13.

The UNMC Faculty Senate invites nominations for seven awards in the following categories:

  • Outstanding Teacher
  • Spirit of Community Service
  • Outstanding Faculty Mentor of Graduate Students
  • Faculty Mentor of Junior Faculty (This is a new category.)

Persons holding faculty appointments at UNMC are eligible to be nominated for these awards. Students and faculty may submit nominations for the first three awards, but only junior faculty may nominate for the Outstanding Mentor of Junior Faculty Award.

The annual faculty meeting is at 4 p.m. April 23 in the Durham Research Center Auditorium.

Faculty Senate President Gay Canaris, M.D., assistant professor, internal medicine, will provide an overview of the year’s activities.

The annual state of the campus address will be presented by UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D.

Nominations must be emailed no later than March 13, in pdf format, to the Honorary Degrees & Awards Committee, c/o Office of the Faculty Senate.
