Entrants in the 2014 Fall Fest costume contest.

UNMC held its annual Fall Fest on Thursday, a celebration of the season featuring Halloween and fall-themed activities.

Campus students and staffers were greeted with hot chocolate, coffee, cinnamon rolls and scones at the Sorrell Center and the Durham Research Center, and over the lunch hour, caramel apples were served, and campuswide costume and pumpkin decorating contests were held.

Michael Barr’s “People’s Choice” pumpkin

The campuswide pumpkin decorating contest winner, as decided by the panel of judges, was UNeMed, with a pumpkin brain. The people’s choice pumpkin winner was a “pumpkin spiced latte,” entered by Michael Barr of campus security.

“Fall Fest is a fun event designed to show appreciation for our employees and students,” said Anna Kirshenbaum, campus event coordinator. “The morning treats are especially popular, and we always see very creative costumes for the contest.”
