Unveiling held Tuesday for new sculpture on campus

The campus community is invited to the unveiling of a new campus sculpture at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26.

The sculpture, “Healing,” will be placed at the corner of 42nd and Emile streets in front of the Sorrell Center. It was donated by Karen and James Linder, M.D.

“Art adds vibrancy and richness to our campuses, and Karen and I are honored to contribute,” said Dr. Linder, who is the interim president of the University of Nebraska. “Many fine works now line the UNMC sculpture pathway. ‘Healing’ anchors the front door of the campus as a visual representation of the important work Med Center employees do each day. We hope you find it inspirational.”

There are several pieces of art on display at UNMC, including Kevin Box and Warren Cullar’s “Rock, Paper, Scissors”; “The Letter Q,” by Fletcher Benton; and “Dangos,” by Jun Kaneko. For a location guide to these and other public artworks in Omaha, click here.

Box is also the creator of the new sculpture.
