The University of Nebraska Board of Regents and Interim University of Nebraska President James Linder have set the date for the investiture of Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., as the eighth chancellor of UNMC.
In an email sent to UNMC faculty and staff Thursday evening, the board set Sept. 5 as the date for investiture events, which will include:
- 10:30 a.m.: Ceremony at the Witherspoon Concert Hall of the Joslyn Art Museum, with a reception to follow in the museum’s Storz Fountain Court.
- 2:30 p.m.: Campus reception at the Ruth and Bill Scott Student Plaza at UNMC (or the Durham Outpatient Center west atrium in inclement weather).
The investiture ceremony, an academic tradition which dates to the Middle Ages, is defined as the “the act or formal ceremony of conferring the authority and symbols of a high office.”
